Dr. Willi Meyers, agricultural and applied economics professor emeritus, presented “Ukraine’s Growing Role in Global Agriculture and Possible Impacts of Conflict” as part of the Engaging 4 MO webinar series on May 4, 2022.
During the webinar, Dr. Meyers summarized Ukraine’s contribution to global grain exports. He highlighted the country's role in supplying commodities such as sunflower oil and wheat. He also covered how the war in Ukraine has challenged logistics including commodity transportation via water and railways and farm inputs availability and costs.
Further, Dr. Meyers explained some of the commodity price impacts stemming from the conflict in Ukraine and discussed the potential implications for food security.
