The speed square is in the top 5 tools in any carpenter's toolbelt. This video will go over the basic uses of the common 7 inch speed square. Mike's square has a level on it which is very useful for finding angles on existing boards quickly and easily.

Ten Tips:
1) Use the Large 12" Square for 2x12s, 2x10s & 2x8s
2) Always keep the 7" speed square in your toolbelt
3) Use the pivot point to dial in the cut angle
4) Use the speed square to scribe quick 90 and 45 degree angles
5) Use the speed square as a saw guide
6) Always test lumber boards for square before cutting
7) Use the square's notches to scribe parallel line
8) 7 inch speed square is best for scribing angles on 2x3s and 2x4s
9) Use the speed square as a protractor to scribe angled cuts
10) Use the level speed square to measure existing architectural angles
