Tiktok decides the content that appears in the "For You" tab. The algorithm likely recommends content in the "For You" based on at least your watch history and location. Not every "For You" content will please you. You only need to swipe pass content that doesn't please you. The more you swipe fast-pass on a particular content type, the lesser that content type shows up in the "For You" tab.
But you have other options, there is a "Following" tab that shows only content from Tiktokers you follow. This is where you have control as you can simply unfollow someone and you don't see their content there anymore. That way, you could feel pleased with the next content you swipe to.
We also have the "STEM" tab. It stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. It shows content related to any of these titles. This tab is similar to the "For You" tab in that Tiktok decides what is shown there. But the main difference is that the content is specific to STEM.
When you launch your Tiktok app, the default tab is the "For You" tab. It is your responsibility to switch to the tab you like most. Review point: Tiktok could occasionally inform users about the existence of other tabs and what makes them different from the "For You" tab so users can have more control on what they watch. The downside of this is that, if fewer users stay on the "For You" tab, Tiktok might have fewer viewers to watch programmed ads that are tied to content.
