Episode 1 of the 1964 Karmann Ghia Restoration series.
This is the start of the journey with my 1964 Karmann Ghia convertible, a car that has travelled a long way to end up here in the Kombi Garage.
It has not started in over a year, and before I can think about bigger plans, I need to see what I am really dealing with. In this episode, I begin by trying to get it running again, checking the first obvious issues, and figuring out what needs attention next.
This one is less about perfection, and more about finding a starting point.
In this video, I take a first look at the project, try to get it started again, identify some of the early issues, uncover the brake problem, and set the direction for the next steps.
If you are starting a classic VW project, waking up a car that has been sitting, or trying to work out where to begin, I hope this helps.
