On March 24, the China Space Administration released high-resolution images of the inspection area recently captured by the "Tianwen-1" orbiter, as well as a number of the latest Mars images such as self-portraits of the "Zhurong" Mars rover.
This is a 0.5-meter resolution image of the "Zhurong" Mars rover inspection area taken by the "Tianwen-1" orbiter when it passed over the Mars rover inspection area a few days ago.
The "Zhurong" rover also sent back selfies from the surface of Mars. Compared with the photos taken just after landing, it can be seen that a thin layer of dust has accumulated on the surface of the rover. At present, no obvious sand and dust weather has been observed in the inspection area of "Zhurong". Judging by the telemetry information, the power generation efficiency of the solar wing is affected to a certain extent, but the energy is still sufficient.
This is the wind and sand activity in the high latitudes of the northern hemisphere of Mars captured by the medium-resolution camera of the "Tianwen-1" orbiter. The engineering team found that from late January this year, obvious sandstorm activities began to appear in the area north of 60° north latitude on Mars. It can be seen from the figure that a local sandstorm occurred in this area in February this year, and typical features were covered by a large amount of sand and dust, making it difficult to distinguish.
Up to now, the "Zhurong" rover has worked on the surface of Mars for 306 Martian days and has traveled a total of 1,784 meters. The "Tianwen-1" orbiter has been in orbit for 609 days and is 277 million kilometers away from the earth. Currently, both devices are operating normally.
