Statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology show that by the end of 2021, a total of 1.425 million 5G base stations have been built and opened in China, and more than 650,000 5G base stations were newly built last year. At present, the total number of 5G base stations accounts for more than 60% of the world, and the 5G network has covered all prefecture-level cities, more than 98% of county cities and 80% of townships. The number of 5G base stations per 10,000 people reached 10.1, nearly doubling from the end of 2020. The scale of 5G users continues to expand, and 5G mobile phone users have reached 355 million. In 2021, China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom and China Tower will complete a total of 184.9 billion yuan in 5G investment, accounting for 45.6% of the total investment in telecom fixed assets, an increase of 8.9 percentage points over the previous year. According to data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, in 2021, 5G will directly drive the total economic output of 1.3 trillion yuan and directly drive the economic added value of about 300 billion yuan, becoming an important engine for a new round of economic growth.
