FYI, I am not posting this for clicks. My channel is not monetized. I am posting this because my channel is Green Valley, AZ centric, and this is something that occasionally happens in Green Valley. We usually expect that predation happens out in the desert/washes, but occasionally, it literally comes right to your front porch. I feel sorry for the little rabbit, but it is the circle of life. One creature dies so another creature can live.

I noticed that the rabbit body was mostly intact, and I also noticed that there was a hole in the right side of the rabbit where it looks like the liver, possibly heart and other organs were eaten. I was wondering what predator took this rabbit, so I did an online search and found that it could be one of several. Had it been a bobcat or coyote, I would have thought that they would have taken the whole rabbit, but I could be wrong. Another option would be a bird of prey, and I would narrow that down to an owl since the other birds of prey do not fly at night as far as I know, and owls have been known to feed on internal organs only.

Predators often target the most nutritious parts of their prey, which include the liver and other organs, as they are rich in nutrients.

The consumption of organs can vary based on the predator's dietary habits and availability of food sources.

Cleaning up was not pleasant, but necessary since we will hit 90+ degrees later today. I took the remains elsewhere on the property and left it for any other animal that might benefit from those remains. Since the rabbit lost it's life, I hope the most good possible could come from it.
