journal entry (30/3/24):
wow. this one took way too long to make (because i procrastinated a lot and played music instead of working on this film). anyway, about this topic (THE WORLD IS FALLING APART) - i feel like if u have social media, or a connection to the internet, u can relate. i see it everywhere, i've experienced it as well. everything is a distraction now. even this film is a distraction from the real world. it sucks cus our lives whether we like it or not are all online. my whole life is online now. i stare at a screen for work, for school, to create films and music. that's just the way life is now huh. i want to do a dopamine detox, and like remove screens or the internet from my life for a week or something, but also i wouldn't be able to work or do anything. as much of a good thing it is, it also sucks. i always like to imagine what it'd be like 20 years ago, when the internet wasn't essential to our lives. kids actually went outside. teens go to the mall, and do whatever teens at that time do at the mall, idk im not 20 (yet, holy shi). if anything, this episode is just to make you think (i mean read what i wrote in the outro again). all my films r to make u think, and this is a prime example haha. i had a lotta fun creating it. i'm also finally starting to utilise slog 3. was hesitant at first but this is my first go at filming in slog 3. ig i was afraid of messing up the footage then not being able to fix it. but luts exist and my minimal color grading knowledge pulled thru. still gonna continue learning how to properly color grade tho. idek if u can notice a difference in this film. if ur for some reason reading this, comment "guys ari's never been on a date before". i wouldn't expect u to be reading this thus never finding out that i've never been on a real date before ahaha. anyway i should rly get to working on the next one, plus my school assignments, oh and i wanna make more music as well. i just watched a commentary video about how "youtuber music isn't good". which made me think (i mean i always knew this but never said this to someone else, so ig ur the first one to know except for sam, i told sam before), i don't want to be a "youtuber". that stems from donald glover saying he never was, never "identified" as a "rapper". cus then u get put in a box. like how ye wanted to get into fashion and that industry, but ppl only wanted him for his music. i don't want that. i don't want to do just 1 thing. i mean this is where i rly take inspiration from donald glover, and prolly the main reason why i like him. cus he isn't just 1 thing. he's done multiple things in his life that he can be proud of. everytime someone asks me "what do u want to do as a job" (and other things along the lines of that), i always say "i want to be me". being me is my "job". creating films, music, helping people. that's just what i do. i don't want someone to say "oh arikki is a youtuber". or "oh he's that guy that makes music right?". you shouldn't be able to pinpoint exactly 1 thing that i do. anyway, all of that aside (idky i decided to say all this right now, but there ya go. ig i'll be able to look back at this episode and read the journal entry and see that i just predicted my own future), i'm gonna get to making the next one since i'm behind schedule. and probably go outside. i should do that. no way you just read all of this. if u did, that's impressive, but also wow how much time do u have on ur hands hahaha. go do something great. be remembered for something (good). imma leave it at that.
