Next Destination will be highlighting lesser known destinations that you need to add to your travel list, plus well-known destinations from angles you may not have thought of. From sustainability to arts and culture, to food highlights and the neighbourhoods that are this close to being the next big trend... and highlighting some of the amazing people who really make a destination special.
First up is LUCERNE. What an amazing city to be in during the summer months—the lake, the mountains, the views, the food! If you’re looking for a great summer (or even fall!) European spot to mix adventure with relaxation, this is it.
✨ LUCERNE HIGHLIGHTS ✨
STAY at the @artdecohotelmontana not just for the incredible views from your balcony, but also because of its great location, newly renovated rooms, art deco design, the breakfast (trust me)!
DO A WALKING TOUR One of my favourite ways to get introduced to a new city is with a walking tour. I did one with @ilove_lucerne (visit their website for tours).
STAY ON TOP OF THE WORLD 🏔 at Mount Titlis in nearby Engelberg @engelberg.titlis. At the very top, you’ll find the SpaceCamp Aurora Hut perched on the edge of the mountain that you can sleep in! The sunsets here are out of this world—plus a stay here comes with a champagne picnic, a traditional Swiss dinner and views you’ll dream about.
VISIT A SUSTAINABLE FARM 🐷 The @kulturhofhintermusegg is a 400-year-old sustainable farm in the city. The owner, Pia, is on a mission to ensure everything on the farm is done sustainably, and how it was intended centuries ago. You can sip on their own beer, eat locally sourced food, and hang out with the pigs, goats and chickens too.
MOUNTAINS + THE LAKE A day spent on the water with the Lake Lucerne navigation company is the best way to get Mount Pilatus @pilatus and Alpnachstad—another great mountain peak and view that you can access via the world’s steepest cogwheel train. And the views at the top won’t disappoint (nor will a lunch at the hotel on top).
