NEXT DESTINATION - BASEL, SWITZERLAND 🇨🇭 Why Basel Is The Perfect Summer Vacation Spot
It’s here! The second episode in my new video series, Next Destination, and it’s focused on one of my favourite cities in Switzerland... Basel! 🇨🇭❤️🇨🇭Basel had such a quirky, easy-going vibe. It was such a perfect summer destination—it would honestly be a great spot to visit this fall too! These are some of my highlights. ☺️☺️☺️ @baselswitzerland
✨BASEL HIGHLIGHTS✨
STAY at the Nomad @nomad_basel (or at their sister property the Hotel Krafft @hotelkrafftbasel). I loved the Nomad—perfect location (you could walk to so many museums, restaurants and sights. Plus the design was so hip and cool. The sister Hotel Krafft, is more traditional and classic Swiss—but perfectly situated on the river.
TAKE IN ALL THE ART 🖼 This city LOVES art—there are so many museums to poke around, street art in unexpected places, and even the only fountain in the city that you can’t drink from is because it’s an actual art installation. My personal favourite was the Beyeler Foundation @fondationbeyeler—not just for the museum, but also for the cafe and picnic! You can also download the ARTour app—the perfect way to make sure you get all the art fixes possible!
DO A BIKE TOUR 🚲 You can actually visit 3 countries all in one day—Basel is situated right next to the German and French borders, so rent a city bike and cycle your way through Switzerland, Germany and France. Don’t forget to stop by the Vitra museum in Germany to keep the arts tour going. It’s about 20 CH for a day rental at the SBB train station.
GET IN OR ON THE WATER 🚤 🏊♀️ You can jump into the river and go for a swim like the locals do (yep, they all love floating down the Rhine when it’s warm!), Or take the cable ferry (no motor needed!), or even better get a mini tour in a traditional wooden waidling boat.
