Larian Studios were best known as the makers of the Divinity series, at least, until this game came out. The original Baldur's Gate launched in 1998, when RPG juggernauts, Bioware, were at the helm. Larian took over duties for the third entry, and it's safe to say they went above and beyond in their delivery.
Baldur's Gate III is one of the deepest, most complex videogames I've played and has put itself firmly atop the pantheon of choice-driven RPGs. In my opinion, nothing in that genre that's out right now, comes close.
