Final Fantasy XVI - Review
Created by Square Enix's Creative Business Unit III, Final Fantasy XVI (16) launched on the 22nd of June, 2023 as a PS5 exclusive. With it, comes some level of justification for the PS5 I purchased nearly two years ago after being teased the trailer for this game, even if this feels like a bit of a departure from the norm.
The latest in Final Fantasy's now extensive catalogue comes with an 18+ PEGI rating and a more mature theme that channels popular Western media, making this a more clean cut RPG. The combat is different, but the story, names and big hulking Primals/ Espers / Eikons are just as good, if not better.
The footage from Final Fantasy XVI and Valkyrie Elysium was recorded on PS5 at 2560x1440, while the footage from Final Fantasy VII Remake and Devil May Cry V was recorded on the PS4 versions of each game, running at 2560x1440 on PS5.
The footage from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was recorded in 4k on PC and scaled down for this video. It is not directly comparable to the footage from the other games listed here.
