Bakura : Captions [Are Automatically Generated]
Hiii everyone! It's been quite a while. This is my first personal edit since August, and in terms of getting it done, as well as other projects, personal or for MEPs, it's been quite a trip.
Welp, i'll start with talking about how making this video went!
The way this all started was from a sudden huge burst of inspiration, after watching some other video edits that just felt OVERWHELMING, but in a good way! Those particular edits had Fever Dreams by Istasha being used in them, but i didn't particularly wanna use the same song, due to wanting to think of my own ideas, where i don't have to think back to my sources of inspiration much.
Eventually i stumbled across this song and rather quickly decided that this is the one i want. Surprisingly, i haven't seen others edit with this song often.
As for who i wanted to use? I was getting a recent resurgence of love for YGO, and i felt like Bakura fit the dark sound of this song quite well. I was able to gather together my desired clips fast enough, and then i already started fiddling around. I finished the first 3 seconds during the first night, and despite my worries about not having much of a feeling for some creative things now, i managed to start getting into some kind of zone while editing.
Stuff really took off the next day - during one of my distanced lectures, i think, or before one dkjsahads
In that same hour, felt like in the same breath and excitement, I placed down nearly all of my clips, and started spitting out effects and experimenting with them. That includes starting to make a mask for the part at 0:06, and i belieeeve, essentially finishing the part from 0:08 - 0:11. I allowed excitement and instinct to guide me, and i was, in my opinion, able to create some funky and creative effects as a result. I was especially yelping from excitement when making the black halftone text in the background of 0:10, as that was looking so cool lol :D
I had a similar experience when making the ''watch me'' part.
My idea with the clips and the text that goes along with it was to create a flow between the clips themselves, and matching the clips to the lyrics.
However, i did still have some trial and error for the fun i had. I took some time with the second clip in the chorus due to trying to figure out how to do an ''ink sketch glitch'' on it while still retaining movement.
And frankly, what i mentioned before happened way back in September. I ended up getting less time and energy to work on creative projects or that much outside of uni stuff, until at some point, this project, along with others, started feeling ''intimidating'' to go back to bc i wasn't sure if i'd be able to do that same level of creativity or flow. In general i was worried that i was losing my feeling with things like this.
However, gradually, i came back to this project about a week or some days ago, and i figured out that... for me, at least, not thinking and just doing things, is a good way to get into the zone. And that i don't need to worry about any editing or composition ''rules'' bc good things could just come out naturally as i make things, and look back at them.
That was when i made the outro and finished the middle part of the first loop, and eventually did the second loop. When working on the second loop and replacing the text, also, i unfortunately had quite a bit of keyframes to work with. I had to retype and re-find fonts, bc i had so many frames where the style of the text changes. But i was able to do it eventually!
When doing the outro, i had forgotten that i added my watermark at the start already, but i had already finished making the text and i didn't really want to go back and change the keyframes again. So i figured it'd be alright to keep it.
And watching this back i also understood that no matter how worried i may feel sometimes, i definitely still got it in terms of editing knowledge and skills c: And i really wish to continue working on my projects and creating in general!
About a slightly different topic, i didn't end up getting into the place where i wanted to get into, so i'm currently going to a different uni. I'm currently not doing something i'm extremely interested in... but i hope that someday, sometime, things will align again, and make sense. And that in one way or another, i'll be able to continue improving my art.
