In this episode of »Ask Dr Wolle«, the scientific director of the DDR Museum talks about the period from the construction of the border barrier on 13 August 1961 to the fall of the Wall on 9 November 1989, focusing on the Berlin Wall – because Berlin was considered a »big loophole« for those who wanted to leave the GDR. In the first exhibition area, the DDR Museum presents a themed Wall diorama with miniatures of the border area. The highlight is a six-metre-long original piece of the Berlin Wall directly behind it. Against this backdrop, Dr Stefan Wolle also shows the different sides of the Berlin Wall from East and West and explains the events surrounding the expansion phases of the border fortifications.
