Hideo couldn't sleep. Faux-neon lights flickered outside as the LEDs shorted from the rain and the warming tale his Number One Customer had recounted to him that afternoon played out in his head like a mindworm. After a late shift by the port, his Number One Customer had taken the unusual step of getting some yakisoba at 3AM from an old-fashioned izakaya down an alley off Garment Street. The end of the 3AM shift found most people heading uptown, away from the cold ocean, and across Seveno Interchange to Nomoto for rice buns and hot sake. But Hideo's Number One Customer wanted to be alone that night. And so did the lady, now his Number One Customer’s wife, who he found himself seated beside at that little restaurant. Their eyes met over the yuzo kusho dip and conversation followed quickly and easily. Neither wanted to be alone anymore.

Hideo drifted for a while, his augmented imagination teasing out all the different permutations, creating that same scenario with a hundred endings. But it wasn't his Number One Customer in that izakaya, it was Hideo; with confidence and good fortune. With every new timeline he conjured he felt a veneer of his dislocation fragment away. And then, his boots were on. It was 3AM, the Market District where Hideo lived was still an hour from waking, though occasional panels of orange light in the residence towers betrayed the sleeping habits of a few early risers. Twenty-two minutes later, after risking the decay of Citru Park and the Omati Underpass, Hideo found himself in Container City stepping from building to building looking for solace and a reason to finally, one day, open that tea-for-two pod the previous tenant had left in the pantry cupboard.

Thanks for listening. Pixel Vybes create electronic music. We use YouTube for our soundscapes and ambient pieces. Spotify, Deezer, iTunes, Apple Music etc. also have some of these longer compositions, but we mostly upload our shorter form tracks there. We are slowly getting through our back catalogue of tunes from the last couple of decades, remixing and remastering as we go.

We produce mostly ambient, drum and bass, synthwave, lofi and hybrid electronic / orchestral. So feel free to check out our channels. We hope you enjoy our work. The reason we created these soundscapes was primarily just for fun; to try and create background music that sets the scene, but doesn't interfere too much. Alas, I think we've failed on the second point a number of times. The problem we have with ambient music is that we can't help but drop some heavy synth stabs, tearing arpeggios, cinematic braams or deep bone-shaking bass pads into the mix. It takes the composition away from our original intentions, and breaks the relaxation spell. So, there are more relaxing pieces interspresed with the sci-fi / futuristic / cyberpunk pieces. These should be safe enough to put your headphones in, close your eyes and fall asleep.

We are actively seeking commissions for soundtrack work, mostly for video games and visual novels.

Music on this channel is copyrighted, but we'd be happy for you to use it if you'd like to. Just please get in touch first. Visuals made using Midjourney.
