The fairly nascent genre of hybrid orchestral music, identified by a blending of both traditional orchestral instruments and synthetic sounds, is one of the most exciting and challenging genres in music production. There are plenty of sounds that blur the line, being either effected acoustic instruments or sounds mimicing the same, but the real challenge is in incorporating the sounds that exist on the borders; those that seem at odds with their opposite: brass, high pitched synth stabs, FM bass, to name a few - incorporating these sounds always seems trickier in my opinion. This piece should really have been a ten minute piece, but I don't want to screw with the system - there's already on video on the channel that's not exactly 1:00:00.
Please note: there's some heavy / loud percussion in this, so just be aware!
The title is drawn from Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach trilogy. The score to the film of Annihilation is fantastic, it really stretches the bounds of hybrid orchestral, and film music in general. I wanted to try and take it in a different direction, and attempt to juxtapose the terror against the beauty.

Spotify, Deezer, iTunes, Apple Music etc. also have some of these longer compositions, but we mostly upload our shorter form tracks there. We are slowly getting through our back catalogue of tunes from the last couple of decades, remixing and remastering as we go. We produce mostly ambient, drum and bass, synthwave, lofi and hybrid electronic / orchestral. So feel free to check out our channels. We hope you enjoy our work. The reason we created these soundscapes was primarily just for fun; to try and create background music that sets the scene, but doesn't interfere too much. Alas, I think we've failed on the second point a number of times. The problem we have with ambient music is that we can't help but drop some heavy synth stabs, tearing arpeggios, cinematic braams or deep bone-shaking bass pads into the mix. It takes the composition away from our original intentions, and breaks the relaxation spell. So, there are more relaxing pieces interspresed with the sci-fi / futuristic / cyberpunk pieces. These should be safe enough to put your headphones in, close your eyes and fall asleep. We are actively seeking commissions for soundtrack work, mostly for video games and visual novels. Music on this channel is copyrighted, but we'd be happy for you to use it if you'd like to. Just please get in touch first. Visuals made using Midjourney. Linktree: https://linktr.ee/pixelvybes
