Gardening for Wildlife – how to welcome Frogs, ‘Hogs and everything inbetween!

Have you wondered how you can make your garden more attractive to wildlife in a way that’s also mutually beneficial to you? In this talk, we’ll show you a number of simple and practical ways in which you can attract key species, both to increase biodiversity, and to help make your gardening easier. From creating a wildlife pond to tips on natural pest control, there will be something for everyone no matter the size of garden or the amount of time you have to spare. As the talk is hosted by Froglife, we’ll also have a keen focus on amphibians and reptiles, which are often overlooked in wildlife gardening despite their key ecological roles.
Sara Blackburn is delivering elements of the Yorkshire Tales of Amphibian Discovery Project, which is working to engage communities in amphibian conservation as well as deliver habitat improvements. Beginning her research career studying lions in Kenya, Sara’s speciality is citizen science, and she has worked on UK species including hedgehogs, otters and invasive species in waterways.
