British Intertidal Marine Isopods
Natural History Live by Warren Maguire
Intertidal marine isopods are an extremely under-recorded group in Britain and Ireland.
An active recording scheme operated from 1968 into the ‘70s before coming to an end. In 2020 the scheme was resurrected by the British Myriapod & Isopod Group by Warren Maguire and now actively promotes recording of this fascinating group.
In this talk, Warren will explore their relationship with woodlice, and cover some of the species you can find, how to find them, and how to go about identifying and recording them. The new British Myriapod & Isopod Intertidal Marine Isopod recording scheme is also introduced.
Warren is the intertidal marine isopod recorder for the British Myriapod & Isopod Group, conducting fieldwork and gathering records for these and other isopod species. He is a senior lecturer in English Language at the University of Edinburgh.
