Daiwa 4000C "Silver" - 1979 - Sea Fishing Fixed Spool Reel.
This very successful reel symbolises the sea change that occurred in fixed spool reels in the late 1970s. Everything was new, shiny and basically very good. This impressively put together "Silver" skirted spool reel was not even from Daiwa's top line but one would be hard pressed to find anything not good about it, particularly this later Korean made example which improves on the original with a better, corrosion resistant handle. No matter how far the technology moves on these will always impress.
