This video shares a layering strategy for alcohol-based markers.
When drawing, my recommendation is to pick a strategy that works for you. In this case, I prefer to use lighter colors first. Later, I'll color in darker tones as I build up the image.
Make sure the paper is nice and saturated with ink before you introduce a new color. If you're doing this for the first time, only use a little and see how well the colors bleed together.
