The Ohio State Bar Foundation 2023 Fellows class developed a video series highlighting how civility fosters happiness, empathy, and stronger communities. In today's divided world, civility—respecting others, understanding different perspectives, and ensuring everyone feels valued—is more important than ever. The 6 part video series asks us all to consider what it means to be civil, offering perspectives and tips to help you think about how you bring respect and kindness to your interactions.
In the final and sixth video of the six-part series, 2023 OSBF Fellow Joseph Cole shares strategies for responding to non-civil behavior in a calm and constructive way. Joseph encourages us to use empathy to de-escalate tense situations, clarify intentions, and try not to take things things personally.
