Ah, I wish you could have been there.
In little over two hours of landing in Moldova, Lea found herself face-to-face with Ukrainian Ambassador Marko Shevchenko.
In what was a hugely relaxed and humerous exchange, it was clear from the get-go that Ambassador Shevchenko was captivated by his esteemed guest.
Lea 🌈 Turner was BRILLIANT, as she shared her Hope4 journey, hoping to raise a few thousand, to being instrumental in raising almost £250,000 and becomming our own Ambassador.
This was no ordinary meeting, Marko untypically relaxed, as he was, like so many others, hanging on Lea's every word.
And then, in what was a hugely humbling moment for me, his face took on a solemn look, as if to emphasise the gravity of what it means to him and his people, and exaplined to Lea...
"𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐆𝐎 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐨𝐯𝐚 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞4"
The sheer weight of those words seem to hang in the air for a while as both Lea and I contemplated the epic journey we've all been on these past 11 months.
We were'nt there to brag about ourselves, but about you, as Lea explained the incredible family that came together to help, literally, change a nation and bring extraordinary hope where there was none.
Today we head to our warehouse, itself the radical expression of love and support for the Ukrainian and Moldovan people by Dean Attwell and Sallie Attwell of Oakland Foundation.
There we will give away food donated by more Hope4 friends, Andrew Selley and his organsiation Bidfood UK.
No, we can't do it alone - they say it takes a village to raise a child, I say it takes a community to transform tens of thousands of lives.
Stay tuned for more real-time, real-life stories, as we connect YOU with your own impact.
