Experience Grigori Aleksandrov and Sergei Eisenstein’s revolutionary masterpiece “October: Ten Days That Shook the World” (1928) in stunning HD with English subtitles.

This landmark Soviet silent film dramatizes the events leading to the Russian October Revolution of 1917, from the fall of the Tsar and the failures of the Provisional Government to Lenin’s return, the storming of the Winter Palace, and the rise of Soviet power. Using innovative montage techniques and powerful visual symbolism, Eisenstein recreates history on an epic scale.

Synopsis:
The film opens with public celebration after the February Revolution and the overthrow of Tsarist rule. However, continued war and hunger under the Provisional Government soon lead to unrest. In April 1917, Lenin returns to Petrograd to rally supporters. By July, protests are violently suppressed, bridges are raised to isolate workers, and Bolshevik offices are destroyed.

As Kerensky’s weak leadership falters, General Kornilov attempts a military coup, which is defeated by organized Bolshevik resistance. Workers are armed, leaflets spread revolutionary ideas, and preparations intensify.

In October 1917, Lenin returns from hiding to lead the uprising. On October 24–25, Bolshevik forces seize strategic locations while the cruiser Aurora signals the assault. After a dramatic storming of the Winter Palace, the Provisional Government is arrested. The Soviets assume power, and on October 26, decrees for peace and land mark the beginning of a new socialist state.

A cornerstone of world cinema, October remains a powerful visual record of revolutionary history and avant-garde filmmaking.
