TerraHash: Create And Store A Hash Of The Terraform Modules Used In Your Configuration.
This Office Hours discussion discusses TerraHash, which is working on module lock files, which are not yet a part of Terraform core. The Terraform lock file currently supports provider pinning, but not for modules. Lock files help maintain stable deployments even if upstream versions change. By committing lock files, consistent versions are ensured across deployments. However, compatibility issues arise across different operating systems like MacOS and Windows. To make the lock file work across multiple OS, specific flags must be added for each OS, generating hashes in the lock file. This approach ensures consistency but requires manual setup for each OS environment.
