We are making major progress on the Jaguar XKR restoration! In Part 5 of the rear suspension rebuild series, I’m tackling the removal of the rear exhaust back boxes and the anti-roll bar to prep for the full subframe drop.
In this episode:
Why I'm removing the prop shaft and lowering the entire rear assembly as one unit.
Battling heavily corroded exhaust clamps with an angle grinder.
Tips for separating stubborn exhaust joins (the WD-40 struggle is real!).
Removing the rear anti-roll bar and drop links to reduce weight.
A special "moral support" guest appearance from my son, Ben (and a talk about toffee dippers!).
My plan for the over-axle pipes and a potential new stainless steel exhaust system.
This is a "real-world" DIY restoration—I'm not following a workshop manual; I'm showing you exactly how I'm finding it as I go, working from the floor of the barn.
