Do You Have to Keep the Law to be Saved? (w/ Remnant Radio) | Theocast
Do you have to keep the law to be saved? With Joshua Lewis from Remnant Radio, Jon Moffitt and Justin Perdue show what happens when law and gospel collapse: assurance drains, tender consciences panic, and Jesus' "keep the commandments" / "believe in me" sayings get mashed into both/and earning.
In this episode you'll hear:
Collapsing law and gospel robs saints of assurance
Jesus sometimes says keep the law, sometimes believe—context matters
Romans 2: doers of the law justified—read inside Romans 1–3
No one does good; no one seeks; righteousness revealed apart from the law
Faith in Christ provides the law-keeping righteousness you need
If the gospel does not lead you to hope and rest, you may not fully understand it yet
Come to me, heavy laden: rest means Christ is sufficient for salvation
Obedience reflects love because he first loved us—not a ladder to get God to act
Who it's for: Christians anxious that partial law-keeping seals final salvation, Remnant Radio listeners sorting Reformed Baptist law-gospel, and anyone whose assurance hinges on "adequate" obedience.
