A good idea for a scenic road trip and relatively easy hike with stunning views in Bulgaria are, Shipka peak and Buzludzha.
Just short of three hours from Bulgaria's capital, Sofia, is Shipka pass which leads you to Shipka peak. Located in the central part of the Balkan Mountain, Shipka monument holds significant historic value, being the symbol of modern Bulgaria and the liberation of Bulgaria. The monument can be seen from far away and offers breathtaking views.
About a 20min drive from Shipka, on rough but passable terrain, is Buzludzha. The Monument House of the Bulgarian Communist Party is now only an abandoned landmark, left in ruins. However, Buzludzha is popular among locals and known for its UFO-like resemblance and amazing views of the Balkan Mountains.
