This comic is perhaps the most popular French comic in the world. Despite this, Asterix is not very popular in America and Japan, which each have strong comic traditions. The key to the success of the series may lie in the story, which contains elements of entertainment for all ages: children love the fighting scenes and visual cuteness, while older people are entertained by the various parodies and word plays used in the story.
