Here discuss and explain the workings of the Severinghaus pCO2 electrode. The Severinghaus electrode is an electrochemical sensor that measures the partial pressure of carbon dioxide as a voltage using an embedded pH electrode. It measures the CO2 partial pressure by taking advantage of an underlying redox reaction.
