Constitutive Law for Linear (Hookean) Elasticity | Biomechanics
Before we can quantify and study the mechanical properties of a Hookean elastic material, we need to discover the constitutive equation describing the relationship between the stress and strain for such material. Here we discuss the development of the constitutive equation for an isotropic material and present definitions for normal and shear stresses. We also introduce you to the shear modulus.
