Andrew Huberman is an American neuroscientist and associate professor in the Department of Neurobiology at the Stanford University School of Medicine who has made many contributions to the brain development, brain plasticity, and neural regeneration and repair fields.
He discusses a study by a colleague at Stanford which showed that simply being told that movement and exercise is good for you can lead to weight loss and other positive effects on health markers. The study involved hotel service people who were divided into two groups, with one group given information about the benefits of exercise and the other not. The study showed that how we think about a process, whether or not we think it's beneficial, can change our physiology in ways that can be beneficial to us.
