The video discusses how to overcome lack of motivation and procrastination by leveraging the dopamine system. A peak in dopamine is followed by a trough, which is experienced as pain or craving for a different state. When in an amotivated state, one can either wait for motivation to return or do something that is harder than the current state. Doing something more effortful or even painful can rebound the dopamine system faster than waiting or doing less difficult tasks. This can be achieved by engaging in tangential activities or things like cold showers. Limbic friction can either be from tiredness or anxiety, which can be overcome by either energizing oneself or calming oneself to lean forward into action.
