This is what I think the ultimate jon boat floor is. This video is part 2 of 3, where I measure and cut the plywood to fit the bottom of the jon boat and secure it to the jon boat with bolts and rivnut, nutserts, threaded inserts. All the same thing, just many different names for them.

The main article is on the website - https://www.jtgatoring.com/jon-boat-f...

So I first measured the bottom of the boat, but from the inside. Once I got that rectangle drawn, I started measuring where the cut out for the ribs went for this plywood jon boat floor.

I had four measurements for each individual rib (the ribs are a trapezoid so each corner I took a measurement). Anywhere there was a bend, point, or corner, I took a measurement and wrote it down.

Once all the measurements for the jon boat floor were done, it was time to start cutting the wood. The plywood I used was 3/8" thick and was the cheapest piece of plywood I could buy. I cut out the main shape out with a circular saw, and then used a saber saw or jigsaw to cut out the notches for the ribs

Once everything was cut, I put the plywood floor into the jon boat to see how it would fit. I would mark where wood was touching and rubbing up against metal, take the plywood floor out, sand or cut the wood away where I marked it, and repeat the process till the plywood floor fit to my liking.

Then I measured and marked where I wanted to put the bolts into the floor. I drew a line from the center of one rib, across the plywood to the center of the same rib on the other side. Then I marked where I wanted to drill the holes on that line.

I drilled through the wood and started into the metal. This way I could lift the plywood jon boat floor up and out, and finish drilling my holes into the jon boat's ribs.

Once the holes where drilled, the nutserts, rivnuts, or threaded inserts were installed. The deck went on top, bolts were put through the plywood jon boat floor, and into the threaded inserts. I got the tool and rivnuts at harbor freight - https://www.harborfreight.com/45-piec... - its worked great!

Next video is part 3, where this plywood jon boat floor project will come to an end... for now. That video will be about painting the floor, making some additional fixes, and mounting the jon boat floor in place!
