Jon Boat Floor | Paint & Install Part3
Here is a simple jon boat floor that cost under $40 to make. This video is part 3 of 3, the final video for now. I still need to add the grab handle on here, but I need to take it out on the water and see where I want to place the handle.
So to start the video, we talked about the stainless steel buckle that I'm using to tie the tiller handle of my SPS Swamp Runner longtail mud motor tiller handle down too. I am currently using 550 paracord to do so, so this buckle doesn't need to be huge. I also kept the placement in mind so I wouldn't step on it all the time.
Then the deck got painted. Nothing too special. I put two coats of a grey-ish colored outdoor paint on it. This paint is the same as my front casting deck and has held up pretty good.
Then I found out that I needed to support that buckle more, so I pulled the floor out, put a 3/8" plywood backer on the backside of the buckle, and I also put another riv-nut, nutsert, or threaded insert in the rib of the jon boat (so many different names for them) and put another bolt through the floor to help secure and support that buckle more.
After that, I installed the deck, tightened down all 7 screws, but not too tight, and the deck is finished for now! Again, I still need to find out the placement of the grab handle.
