This crunchy, golden, pungent chilli goes perfectly well with the rich thali.
Dahi Mirchi is one of those rare commodities that is prepared seasonally and preserved to be devoured throughout the year. It is usually prepared in the month of January when the large-sized green chillies are available in the market. The green chillies are washed and dried, they are then slit in the middle and deseeded. The slit and deseeded chillies are then dunked in a mixture of yoghurt and other powdered spices, making sure that the chilli is coated evenly all over. They are then left to dry in the sun for a few days until the chillies are dried to a pale brown.
One can store these in clean moisture-free, airtight containers and enjoy them throughout the year. These are great accompaniments to khichadi or simple dal chawal.
