When China stopped having children
From 2020 to 2100, the Chinese population could plummet to half of what it is today. Using population control (one-child policy and later two-child policy) the Chinese government has successfully kept population growth down, to the level that the vast nation could risk losing half of its population in just 80 years. This has also led to a gender gap with millions of missing women, who were abandoned as infants.
This video visualizes the Chinese population from 1960-2100. Every block represents 1 million people.
