How To Update CentOS 7
Updating is must and should for Server to avoid vulnerability and bugs on OS.
So, Here we are going to update CentOS 7 OS.
In this Video I'm taken 1 year old OS mean not updated since 1 year.
IT IS ALWAYS RECOMMEND THAT DOING ANY ACTIVITY IN SERVER, KEEP ONE COPY BACKUP, IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG YOU CAN HAVE TO RECOVER / RESTORE WITH BACKUP.
Login with root user when login prompt comes.
Kindly check Internet working with "ping www.google.com" or "curl www.google.com" commands.
Type "yum update -y" command for update the packages.
yum (Yellowdog Updater Modified) is a primary package manager tool for Redhat based Distros to install, update, query and delete the packages.
As per above command we are updating the packages without conformation prompt.
It will check and update the repository.
After that It will check package updates and download, install, verify and cleanup the packages
Must reboot the server.
Again always recommend that after any major activity in servers reboot the server one time if anything not comfortable with OS you can find out on time other wise next time any activity done and restart and any issue face we can't find what is the issue. What I Mean if facing any issue when reboot now actually that issue related to previous activity not current activity on the time of state we always comfortable in current activity and can't troubleshoot.
