The initiative 'Transforming Waste into Wealth in Barbados: Driving the Caribbean Circular Economy', in the "Better Nutrition" block of the #FAOTransforms 2024 Fair, addresses the challenge of managing fish waste in Barbados. In this context, women play a crucial role in the transformation and commercialization of fish. With the support of FAO and intersectoral partnerships, waste is reintroduced into the agroecosystem as livestock feed and soil amendments, benefiting local farmers and processors. This initiative generates informed fisheries policy, trains women and young farmers, and fosters investments for sustainable development.
