Sitting causes #tighthamstrings- Here's why:
When the hips are flexed in that seated position for many hours, the hip flexors become chronically tight, causing them to pull the front of the pelvis into what is known as "anterior pelvic tilt." This forward pelvic motion tugs on the hamstrings, thereby placing a greater tension demand on them.
Considering how many hours the average person sits per day, it seems that most of us are bound to the chair. We sit on the commute to work, at work, during our lunch breaks, on the commute home, to eat dinner, and socialize—then finish off the day sitting on the sofa to relax. That’s a lot of sitting! So, mitigate this issue we can look into getting a standing desk, walking more, standing during breaks, whatever—The point is to just get upright to keep you hips mobile and your hamstrings relaxed! #hamstrings #hamstringstretches
