The divisor function is very important in number theory: d(n) is simply the number of divisors of n (for a positive integer n). In analytic number theory, mathematicians are interested in estimating this function as n grows large. In this video, we describe a fun and simple proof that d(n) ≤ 2√n ALWAYS. The video is designed for students at all levels interested in rigorous math proofs, numbers, and creative mathematical thinking. For example, it would be of interest to advanced high school students (e.g., in math olympiads), college math students learning math proofs and rigorous math, and beyond.
