A tracer line around an image can help make it stand out. A broader border can be useful too. And even a contrasting colour can have an interesting effect. Here's how to quickly and easily produce this effect in Affinity Photo (plus a number of bonus tips).
Extra tip: If you're producing images for projection on a decent projector, a two pixel border often is good for a fine outline trace (I use this for my camera club competition entries).
