In this tutorial, I will demonstrate how to create a perpetual ball bounce in Maya.
I will begin by setting a couple of preferences.
Next, I will solve the spacing using Maya's "superpower" to create the perfect average between two positions as my breakdowns. We will harness the power of the Dope Sheet to create the perfect average positions, which will get us about 90% of the way done - where spacing is concerned. To add the slightest hint of finesse, I will demonstrate how to edit poses to create favors on the eases.
Once the spacing is solved, I will demonstrate how to use the editing capabilities of the Dope Sheet to change our animation from 1's to 2's. Again, 90% of the timing problem solved. And, like before, I will finesse the timing by editing frames in the Dope Sheet to create a mix of 1's, 2's and 3's.
Beautiful? No.
Effective? Yes.
Remember, you are the artist. The software is a tool that you use to create, "The Illusion of Life".
Cheers.
