In this tutorial, I build a Double Bounce Walk from scratch using the Body Mech Jack Rig and Preston Blair's drawings. From a pipeline standpoint, I use Studio Library (https://www.studiolibrary.com/) and bhGhost (http://www.graphite9.com/MayaDownload....

After installing Studio Library, I show you how to create Selection Sets, Mirror Tables and Poses. I also demonstrate Folder management for the tool - and a couple of other issues that pop up along the way. Workflow is important with this tool.

Using bhGhost, I show you how to check your arcs and how to use the strokes created to "pin" things into place. This is one of my favourite addons for Maya! Cheers to Brain Horgan for making this available to the general public. Give him a shoutout for creating a sharing this tool, if you love it as much as I do.

We also work with the Dope Sheet and Graph Editor - two staples in your animation toolset.

We will take a deeper dive - but not too deep - into the Graph Editor as we learn how to edit curves (and how it correlates to a pose.) We will correct curve errors including a doozy where we have to correct a major posing error. We'll also learn about interpolation and some of the benefits of one type over another.

Finally, we'll use Cycles to turn a treadmill animation into what looks a bit like a freeform animation - at least that's what I call it. :/ I'll show you the difference between Cycles and Cycles with Offset and when you should use each one - where a walk cycle is concerned.

Pause. Rewind. Do the assignment over and over as you develop your skills - and until the workflow becomes second nature to you.

Oh yeah - and never, ever forget that this is fun! It's animation! It's supposed to be fun - even in the learning.

Peace.
