In the heart of West London, their biggest street party, Notting Hill Carnival 2023 we celebrate every year as one big famalay to rejoice and adorn in the Caribbean culture and what is now symbolic of the Black British culture and experience. Carni takes place in W10, W11, Notting Hill Gate, Ladbroke Grove, Golborne Road, Portobello Road, Westbourne Park, Kensal Road, and Westbourne Grove.

As a proud Grenadian, I personally love it — and believe the history behind Carnival symbolises far more than the occasional violence that some bring to it. It is British culture. It contributes millions to the UK economy each year and stands as a powerful symbol of resistance, joy, and identity.
Carnival also honours the legacy of the Windrush Generation, who came to rebuild Britain post-war and built a home away from home through community, culture, and resilience. These are themes I explored in my university dissertation.
This video sits at the intersection of education, politics, and society — reminding us that culture is not just celebration, but history in motion.
