06 PS Layer Blending Modes
Here are some common layer blending modes:
Normal: This is the default blending mode, where the pixels from the active layer fully cover the pixels in the layers below.
Multiply: Multiplies the color values of the active layer with the colors of the layers below, resulting in a darker image.
Screen: Opposite of Multiply; lightens the image by multiplying the inverted color values of the active layer with the colors of the layers below.
Overlay: Combines both Multiply and Screen blending modes. It darkens the image where the active layer is dark and lightens where it's light.
Soft Light: Similar to Overlay but with a more subtle effect.
Hard Light: Similar to Overlay, but with a more pronounced effect.
Color: Uses the hue and saturation from the active layer and the luminance from the layers below.
Hue: Uses the hue from the active layer and the saturation and luminance from the layers below.
Saturation: Uses the saturation from the active layer and the hue and luminance from the layers below.
Luminosity: Uses the luminance from the active layer and the hue and saturation from the layers below.
Difference: Calculates the difference between the color values of the active layer and the layers below, resulting in contrasting colors.
Exclusion: Similar to Difference but with less contrast.
Lighten: Selects the lighter color values between the active layer and the layers below.
Darken: Selects the darker color values between the active layer and the layers below.
Color Dodge: Brightens the image based on the color values of the active layer and layers below.
Color Burn: Darkens the image based on the color values of the active layer and layers below.
Hard Mix: Reduces the number of colors in the image to a set of primary colors.
Dissolve: Randomly erases pixels from the active layer based on opacity.
