07 PS The Text Tool
In Adobe Photoshop, the Text Tool is used to add text to your images and designs. It allows you to create text layers, edit text content, change font styles, sizes, and colors, and position the text within your composition. Here's how you can use the Text Tool in Photoshop:
Select the Text Tool: In the Photoshop toolbar, click on the "T" icon to select the Text Tool. Alternatively, you can press the "T" key on your keyboard to activate it.
Create a Text Layer: With the Text Tool selected, click anywhere on your canvas where you want to add text. This will create a new text layer.
Type Your Text: Once the text layer is created, start typing the desired text. You can see the text you're entering in the options bar at the top of the screen.
Edit Text Properties: With the text selected, you can use the options bar at the top of the screen to change various text properties, such as font family, font size, font style (bold, italic, etc.), text alignment, and color.
Transform and Position Text: To resize or move the text, you can use the Transform controls. Click and drag the bounding box handles around the text to resize it, and click and drag inside the box to reposition it.
Commit the Text: After entering and formatting your text, click the checkmark icon (√) in the options bar or press the Enter/Return key on your keyboard to commit the changes.
Edit Text: To edit the text again later, simply select the Text Tool and then click on the text you want to modify. This will activate the text layer, and you can make changes to the content and formatting.
Blending Options for Text Layers: You can apply various layer styles and blending options to text layers, such as drop shadows, strokes, bevels, and more. To access these options, right-click on the text layer in the Layers panel and choose "Blending Options."
Character and Paragraph Panels: For more advanced text formatting, you can use the Character and Paragraph panels (Window - Character / Window - Paragraph). These panels provide additional controls over text properties like kerning, tracking, leading, and paragraph alignment.
Text on a Path: You can also create text along a custom path or shape. To do this, draw a path using the Pen Tool or a shape tool, select the Text Tool, and then hover the cursor over the path until you see the Text Tool icon with a wavy line. Click along the path to start typing text.
