Mathieu Crickboom - Chant élégiaque (1922)
Chant élégiaque was published in 1922 and dedicated to Mathieu Crickboom's brother Joseph, who died in March 1915. Joseph was also a violinist, and studied with Eugène Ysaÿe just like his brother.
This piece exists in a version for cello and piano also. Somehow it was given opus number 11, same as Crickboom's Sonata for violin and piano.
This video was recorded at the Royal College of Music by Anna Ovsyanikova (violin) and Karrie Yip (piano). Anna is studying all Crickboom's music for her PhD.
