Shirts to Dresses Sewing Project with Renee Pageau
Renee sews these dresses using salvaged shirts, closet purges, hand me downs, yard sale, surplus, donations, or very low cost Thrift store rejects or finds. These can have ratty collars, cuffs, stained arm pits so don't spend a lot of money. Free, a dollar or so for each tops. You may want to use Dad's, Grampa's old shirts to make memory dresses for a child.
The finished dresses Renee sews are shipped to Africa as part of the Canadian Fund for Children Warehouse program run by Dr. Simone in Mississauga, Ontario Canada. This video shows how she makes these children's dresses from the shirts.

Note each square in image is one inch and there are some details and dimensions written on images. You can modify size or design to suit your needs or adapt an existing sun or other dress pattern you might have.

There were questions about what serger was used. It is a Brother 1034D but there are several other Brother models with slightly different numbers/letters. These are very inexpensive, reliable and easy to thread and use. Renee ditched her high priced serger and loves her little brother sergers.
