Hey everyone! Life has been such a learning experience for me these last couple of months. I feel like I'm growing so much and even when when I feel stuck. This has had a direct affect on the photographic and creative aspects of my life. For a while it seemed that the effects were negative but as challenging and as scary as the last couple of weeks have been, it's starting to feel like so many amazing doors are opening due to these challenges.
Today's episode is another Journal episode in which I share with you, not only the visual journals I capture when I'm out and about but also the thoughts that lead the photos and the photos that lead to thoughts.
I love camera gear, one look at my camera collection and that is plainly obvious but the longer I shoot the more I'm reminded by life that photography as well as art is a way of living fueled by our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual processes. In these types of episodes (Journal episodes) I get to share with you that journey. I do it because, I wish that I could peak into the minds of some of the photographers whose work I respect and admire. So many people have the same camera and lenses that these great photographers used or use but I believe that what makes them stand out are their internal processes. They way they view the world, the stories they tell themselves, their personalities, attitudes and decisions. I know that my work is not like theirs, it has it's own evolution but I just figure that there must be some one or a group of people out there who could benefit from being exposed to someone else's process.
Anyways, sometimes I feel like these video descriptions are closer to blogs than a description. I know a lot of you will ask about the X-E4 and I will make a video about it at some point, but in short, it's an amazing tool that I absolutely love using and the 27mm 2.8 lens is a lens that I've always enjoyed using, primarily because of it's size but also because one of my favorite film cameras of all time has been the Olympus 35rc and that has a 40mm lens on it. I think this is a really awesome focal length and getting to shoot that on a small powerful beast like the Fuji X-E4 has been super fun.
As far as this particular Journal... In the photographs I saw people of many different walks of life as being connected by the fact that even though everyone seems to be doing it differently, we're all just trying to live life as best as we possibly can in the best ways we know how. I found this moving somehow.
Ok, I have to get going... I leave for Italy tomorrow and I'm moving all of my stuff out of storage in a few hours and then I'm hoping to finally pack for my time there. Take care and I hope that you're all doing well and thriving. I hope to see you on the next one very soon.
