MF Doom is one of the greatest hip hop producers of all time, helping to pioneer a unique sound for an era who was tired of the mainstream in hip hop. Coming from London England, his fingerprint on the hip hop genre is easy to spot if you take a look at some of the most prolific rappers and producers that’s in the game right now and look at who’s their largest influence. Artists like Drake, Kanye West, Tyler the Creator, and Earl Sweatshirt have all spoke about their affinity and admiration towards the super villain. One of The biggest question that we all had for years now is “what equipment does DOOM use to make his beat”. The centerpiece to his production setup is the MPC 2000xl. This is the unit that he made the made the majority of his landmark album”Mm food” on. The next drum machine MF doom used was the MPC 60II. You can see him in the studio in this picture alongside his MPC 60II. He definitely was a big fan of the Akai line because he also used the MPC 1000 which he stated in this Wax Poetic interview, An MPC 2000 and the MPC 3000. He stated after he masters a machine he likes to move on to the next one.
